Traditional banks are often limited or restricted from underwriting companies that do not fall perfectly within a predetermined template. This is understandable because, as Hyman Minsky famously wrote, they aren’t lending their own money but someone else’s. Therefore, they must often decline opportunities that don’t comport with standard and accepted patterns, regardless of how secure the transaction might be.
Large institutional financiers, on the other hand, have the willingness and ability to be creative in providing financing mechanisms, but typically do so only for transactions of extremely large size.
The gap in between these solutions is ripe with opportunity.
Brince Wilford Prior to co-founding Bridgepoint Capital, Brince Wilford was the Managing Partner of CCM, an alternative asset manager that he co-founded in 1999. CCM managed over $500 million in client assets in quantitative and systematic investment strategies across global financial, currency, commodity, and equity markets. He also has previously served as an Officer and Senior Vice President of Acquisitions for Healthcare Realty Trust, a publicly-traded Real Estate Investment Trust, where he led and participated in the acquisition and development of over $600 million in healthcare real estate properties nationwide.
Scott Greenwood is a co-founder and principal of Bridgepoint Capital. Before launching Bridgepoint, Scott spent over a decade in the investment management industry, most recently as principal and CCO at Stonepoint Capital. During his tenure at Stonepoint, he focused on the sourcing and due diligence of private investments, primarily real estate and private equity. Scott earned a BA in Accounting from Furman University and lives in Nashville with his wife and four sons.
Jonah Hescock Prior to joining Bridgepoint Capital, Jonah worked for The Mathews Company as an AVP of Asset Management, Covenant Capital Management as a Principal and Trading Manager, Rubicon Equities as a Director, and Healthcare Realty Trust as an Acquisitions/Investment Analyst. He recently served as the Regional Leasing & Acquisitions Officer for EQT Exeter, a private equity real estate asset management firm focused on acquiring, developing, and leasing industrial and office properties for its global investor clients. Jonah received a BS in Accounting and a BBA in Finance from the University of Kentucky, where he graduated summa cum laude, and an MS in Finance from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management.
